On February 10, 2024, Lehigh University announced that an undergraduate student had passed away after a short illness. The student was identified as Christian mazzariello Lehigh University, a third-year computer science major from Northern New Jersey. According to the university's statement, Mazzariello was a bright student who was active in the engineering community and well-liked by his peers. The cause of his illness and death were not publicly disclosed. University officials expressed condolences to his family and friends and said support services were being offered to members of the Lehigh community grieving the loss.

 Christian Mazzariello was an undergraduate student at Lehigh University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering. He had over 6 years of experience as a self-employed musician, creating and publishing original music and video game soundtrack arrangements.

Mazzariello also worked jobs as a crew member at Dunkin' and cashier at ShopRite during 2020-2021. Through his Lehigh education, he developed proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, C, and skills in Linux.




In his personal time, Christian was developing a first-person cooking video game. He brought passion and talent to his academics, music, and gaming interests before his tragic and untimely passing in February 2024. Mazzariello is remembered at Lehigh as a bright student and active member of the engineering community.




Originally from Northern New Jersey, Christian was known as a bright light on campus. The university said he passed away suddenly in the hospital following a short illness.

In an email to the Lehigh community, Vice President for Student Affairs Ricardo Hall shared the devastating news. "During this difficult time, our collective thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those whose lives he has touched," he wrote.

The Student Affairs team is in contact with Christian's family and friends. They will share any plans for remembrances or celebrations of his life as details become available. Counseling and other support resources are available to community members grieving this tragedy."
