Gabriel Michael Reyes, 22 years old, from Batavia, Iowa died on March 4, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City from injuries in a car accident.
Gabriel Reyes Iowa was born on January 26, 2002 in Ottumwa to Dustin and Faith Reyes. Gabriel graduated from Cardinal High School in 2020 where he played baseball, basketball, football and ran track. After high school, he worked at an explosives company and then served 2 years in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Recently, he worked as an equipment operator.

Gabriel was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church and belonged to the Plumbers and Steamfitters union. He loved being outdoors - fishing, shooting guns, riding ATVs. Gabriel loved all kinds of music. He always told his family and friends "love you" at the end of conversations.
Surviving Gabriel are his parents Dustin and Faith, two sisters Whitney and Lexi, two nephews Oliver and Arthur who called him "Funkle Gabe", grandmothers Sherry and Debra, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandfathers preceded him in death.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 10 from 1-3pm at the funeral home. His funeral is Monday, March 11 at Living Hope Bible Church with burial at Floris Cemetery with military honors.
